Today, the 6th of March 2016 marks 59 years of Ghana’s independence. It’s beyond doubt that fashion has been with us even before gaining independence but the emergence of known fashion brands is generally known to have begun after independence. There have been a whole host of brands in the Ghanaian fashion space within this period. Only a few brands have remained relevant over the entire period. While some brands are still operating (even though they’ve seen better days), others are long gone.
The resurgence of the print fabric coupled with the social media age (among other factors) have contributed to a further increase the number of Ghanaian fashion brands.
To mark Ghana’s 59th Anniversary, we present 59 Ghana fashion brands from the country’s 59 years. This list is not ranked (but is arranged alphabetically) and is by no means exhaustive but alas we could only pick 59 brands.
